Second gradient models as a particular case of microstructured models: A large strain finite elements analysis. (English. Abridged French version) Zbl 1002.74009

Summary: Second gradient models are usually nonlocal. Recently local second gradient models have been developed. They can be seen as a particular case of microstructured media which obey a kinematic constraint. It is then easy to build up a large strain finite element method useful for one-dimensional as well as for two- and three-dimensional problems. A one-dimensional example is finally given.
