Martelli, Mario; Dang, Mai; Seph, Tanya Defining chaos. (English) Zbl 1008.37014 Math. Mag. 71, No. 2, 112-122 (1998). This paper surveys, at an elementary level, some different definition of “chaos” for deterministic dynamical systems that have been proposed in the last decades. Each definition, which tries to capture some feature of a “chaotic system”, is compared with the other one’s. The basic equivalence between two simple definitions proposed by Wiggins and Martelli is finally established.
