Summary: For a lot of applications in image analysis, we have to know if a planar image \(g\) may be considered as a view, under another view point, of a planar image \(f\). In such a case, there exists a projective transformation \(\varphi\) such that \[ g(x, y)= (\varphi f)(x,y)= f(\varphi(x, y)). \] Therefore, the projective group was naturally used for modeling the matching problem with a well-known efficiency.
We present here a new model. The new group, called the registration group, is a group with six parameters (instead of eight for the projective group) and is consistent with the displacement of a pinhole camera.
Moreover, this approach allows a simple algorithm for the matches.
