A finite element pressure gradient stabilization for the Stokes equations based on local projections. (English) Zbl 1008.76036
The authors present a variant of classical Galerkin weighted least-squares stabilization method for Stokes equations. The new method has improved accuracy, especially near boundaries. The approach is based on local projections of residual terms which are used in order to achieve consistency of the method. The stability is proved, and a priori and a posteriori error estimates are obtained. Numerical experiments indicate that the approach presented is at least as accurate as the original method, but offer some algorithmic advantages.
