Operations, homomorphism and update versus relational database systems. (English) Zbl 1024.08001

This paper presents some seemingly new conclusions concerning relational database theory. The introduced assertions about update, functional dependencies, relational operations could be more valuable if their impact on real relational DBMS would be more fully explained and emphasized. The intentions to use universal algebra for the descriptions of relationships in the object-oriented data model, which is nowadays still poorly formalized, are promising. There is a printing error in the heading of table 15.
