Black hole and brane production in TeV gravity: a review. (English) Zbl 1035.83023

The paper reviews the theory and phenomenology of black hole and brane production by particle collisions at super-Planckian energies in gravity theories with large extra dimensions, which unify the electroweak and Planck scales at about 1 TeV. This possible solution to the hierarchy problem of high-energy physics was first proposed by N. Arkani-Hamed, S. Dimopoulos and G. R. Dvali [Phys. Rev. D 59, 086004 (1999)]. The paper under review presents also an up-to-date bibliography on the subject.

This reference list is based on information provided by the publisher or from digital mathematics libraries. Its items are heuristically matched to zbMATH identifiers and may contain data conversion errors. It attempts to reflect the references listed in the original paper as accurately as possible without claiming the completeness or perfect precision of the matching.
