Möhle, M. The time back to the most recent common ancestor in exchangeable population models. (English) Zbl 1042.60054 Adv. Appl. Probab. 36, No. 1, 78-97 (2004). The author presents solutions, algorithms and strong upper bounds for the expected time back to the most recent common ancestor (MCRA) and shows that the expected time back to MCRA in a finite population is smaller than what is expected from coalescent theory and verifies the same for the haploid Wright-Fisher model.
