On quasi Einstein and generalized quasi Einstein manifolds. (English) Zbl 1056.53033

The author investigates some geometrical properties of quasi Einstein and generalized quasi Einstein manifolds introduced by M. C. Chaki. The motivation of treating the subject the author finds in the relevance of such manifolds to the study of general relativistic fluid space-times admitting heat flux. According to the author these manifolds could provide a good description of the latter phase in the evolution of the universe. Some further generalization of the Ricci tensor is announced.
