The author gives a survey on recent developments related to Nevanlinna theory, including results for holomorphic curves in projective spaces and in complex semi-tori. Moreover, several new results of joint papers of the author and J. Winkelmann concerning function fields and algebraic morphisms from curves to abelian varieties are discussed.
