The inverse eigenproblem of centrosymmetric matrices with a submatrix constraint and its approximation. (English) Zbl 1079.65043

The author presents an explicit solution and a numerical algorithm for the following best approximation problem: for a given square real matrix, find another one as a solution of a constrained inverse eigenproblem, such that the Frobenius distance between them is minimized. Solvability conditions and an explicit formula for the solution are also provided. Some numerical experiments confirm the theoretical considerations.
