On the history of the Mathematical Seminar of the University of Frankfurt/Main from 1914 until today. (Zur Geschichte des Mathematischen Seminars der Universität Frankfurt am Main von 1914 bis heute.) (German) Zbl 1101.01012

Schwarz, Wolfgang (ed.), On the history of Frankfurt mathematics. Festschrift on the occasion of the 100th anniversaries of Ruth Moufang, Gottfried Köthe, Wolfgang Franz. Frankfurt am Main: Universitätsarchiv Frankfurt am Main. Schriften des Universitätsarchivs Frankfurt am Main 1, 8-133 (2005).
This collection of data on the history of the Mathematisches Seminar of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt from its beginnings to 1970 has a long history itself. It was originally compiled by the authors in the years 1988 to 1990 for a volume on Mathematical Institutes in Germany [Mathematische Institute in Deutschland 1800–1945, Friedr. Vieweg & Sohn (1990; Zbl 0691.01031)], then transformed into an expanded online version in 2002 (https://www.uni-frankfurt.de/50699934/entwu_pc.pdf), until finally the present version evolved.
It is not to be understood as a paper, but rather as a collection of data of various forms, ranging from lists of lecturers over biographies of personalities to discussions of the climate at the Seminar during the Nazi period. In their preface, the authors (“historisch interessierte Mathematiker, aber nicht historisch ausgebildet” (p. 8)) say that “Ergänzungen zu diesem Text, Kritik, Photographien, Korrekturen, …sind stets willkommen” and make thus clear that they don’t understand their collection as a finished product but rather as a growing project.
For the entire collection see [Zbl 1066.01003].
