Holomorphic functions in the plane and $$n$$-dimensional space. Transl. from the German. (English) Zbl 1132.30001
Basel: Birkhäuser (ISBN 978-3-7643-8271-1/pbk). xiii, 394 p. with CD-ROM. (2008).
Already 2 years after the German original a translation into English has appeared from this remarkable textbook with its unique combination of complex, quaternionic and Clifford analysis. Despite of the modified title the translation does not include changes in the text. After just a short time this would have been strange. Therefore nothing has to be added to the review of the original German edition. Nevertheless the society for promoting the use of quaternions mentioned there as not traceable was mentioned last year in the bachelor thesis “Der Schiefkörper der Quaternionen” by Anna Jablonski at FU Berlin. More accessible is [H.-D. Ebbinghaus et al. (Hrsg.), Numbers. With an introduction by K. Lamotke. New York etc.: Springer (1990; Zbl 0705.00001)]. In 1895 the “International Association for Promoting the Study of Quaternions” was founded at Jale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
