Existence of weak entropy solutions for gas chromatography system with one or two active species and non convex isotherms. (English) Zbl 1156.35420

Summary: This paper deals with a system of two equations which describes heatless adsorption of a gaseous mixture with two species. Using the hyperbolicity property of the system with respect to the \((x,t)\) variables, that is with \(x\) as the evolution variable, we find all the entropy-flux pairs. Making use of a Godunov-type scheme we obtain an existence result of a weak entropy solution satisfying some BV regularity.
