The set is calculated for unusual means of encoding genetic information, namely, for overlapped genes, where the same DNA segment codes two protein sequences. The concept of an elementary overlapping is introduced, which corresponds to overlapping in single amino acids. We construct five sets of elementary overlappings, each of which corresponds to one of the five means of genetic overlappings allowed by the DNA structure and has already been experimentally detected. The structure of the sets of elementary overlappings and their properties are analyzed. A brief and concise presentation of the sets of elementary overlappings is given. They are used to analyze overlappings in three and more genes. Elementary overlappings are also used to study one type of biological structures [the author, Dokl.
