Regressive products and Bourbaki. (English) Zbl 0907.01018

Schubring, Gert (ed.), Hermann Günther Graßmann (1809-1877): visionary mathematician, scientist and neohumanist scholar. Papers from the sesquicentennial conference on 150 years of “Lineale Ausdehnungslehre” - Hermann G. Graßmann’s work and impact, Lieschow / Rügen, Germany, May 23–28, 1994. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers. Boston Stud. Philos. Sci. 187, 285-295 (1996).
This gives an outline in modern Bourbakian symbols Grassmann’s progressive and regressive products, with some warnings about identification of the zero level and the \(n\) level of the Grassmanian space with the real line and the identification of the basis vector of these two spaces with the real unit 1. The presentation is clear and clean, and ends with Grassmann’s representation of the ruled hyperboloid in terms of the two products.
