On a Newton-like method for solving algebraic Riccati equations. (English) Zbl 0965.65067
The authors consider the convergence theory for a Newton-like method proposed by P. Benner and R. Byers [IEEE Trans. Automat. Control 43, No. 1, 101-107 (1998; Zbl 0908.93026)] for solving the continuous algebraic Riccati equation. A convergence theory was established by Benner and Bayers under the strong hypothesis of controllability. In this paper, it is proved that the controllability condition can be weakened to the stabilizability condition.
