Scattering theory for linearized Boltzmann equation. Survey and new results. (English) Zbl 0671.76110

Die Arbeit gibt im wesentlichen einen Überblick über die bisher von J. Hejtmanek [ibid. 8, 29-44 (1979; Zbl 0411.47008) and Commun. Math. Phys. 43, 109-120 (1975; Zbl 0309.47009)]; J. Voigt [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 106, 140-153 (1985; Zbl 0567.45002); ibid. 58, 541-558 (1977; Zbl 0372.47006)] und dem Verfasser [J. Funct. Anal. 62, 276-303 (1985; Zbl 0577.47012)] mathematisch streng bewiesenen Ergebnisse zum Spektrum des Transportoperators \[ (Tf)(x,v) = -v\cdot \text{grad}_ x f(x,v) -\sigma_ a (x,v) f(x,v) + \int k(x,v,v') f(x,v') dv' \] sowie die entsprechenden Folgerungen über die Existenz der Wellenoperatoren; dabei werden die Unterschiede im Hinblick auf die zugrundeliegenden Banachräume \(L^ p\), \(1\leq p\leq \infty\) erläutert.
Neue Ergebnisse spielen in der Arbeit eine geringe Rolle; von Interesse dürfte hier die Aussage über die Operatoren \(T^ J_\pm\), die Einschränkung von \(T\) auf die Klasse der Funktionen, die die Randbedingungen \(f(x,v)=0\) für \(x\in\partial\Omega\), \(n(x)\cdot v\lessgtr 0\) erfüllen, sein: Das in \(C^\pm\) gelegene Punktspektrum von \(T^ J_\pm\) ist gleich dem in \(C^\pm\) gelegenen Punktspektrum von \(T\) (\(C^\pm\) ist durch \(\text{Re}\lambda\lessgtr0\) definiert und der zugrundeliegende Raum ist \(L^ 1\)). Man kann die gut geschriebene Arbeit nutzen, wenn man sich schnell auf diesem Gebiet kundig machen will.
