Xiong, Hao; Sun, Youwang A general mathematical model for the vendor-buyer integrated production-inventory system. (Chinese. English summary) Zbl 1265.90026 J. Tongji Univ., Nat. Sci. 40, No. 2, 315-319 (2012). Summary: The vendor-buyer integrated production-inventory system is an important component of the supply chain management. But the strategies given in the current literature have obvious limitations. In order to promote the problem model, this paper first presents a more flexible assumption condition of the problem. Then the whole system’s inventory-time diagram is deduced according to the producers’ and suppliers’ inventory-time diagram. Through analyzing this diagram, the relationship among the buyers’ ordering strategy and the manufacturers’ production and inventory can be obtained. Then a more universal mathematical model for the optimal ordering strategy is deduced. Finally, numerical examples verify that model can yield a lower-cost solution.
