Geometrical nonlinear limit load analysis of plane frames. (English) Zbl 0622.73085

An algorithm for the calculation of plane frames is presented which includes geometrical and physical nonlinear effects. The geometrical nonlinearity can be achieved by a second-order calculation or by the consideration of nonlinear strain-displacement relations. The plastic behaviour of steel is taken into account by the plastic hinge theory with eccentric or centric hinges. The interaction between the stress resultants can be carried out with linearized yield conditions for double-symmetrical profiles. Comparative calculations have shown that the use of eccentric hinges leads to the minimal execution time. The presented FORTRAN program is developed on a microcomputer with 512 kByte RAM under MS-DOS.
