Studies on Liu Zhuo’s interpolation and its development in the Tang period. (Chinese. English summary) Zbl 0854.01004

This paper proposes a reconstruction of Liu Zhuo’s (544-610) second order equal intervals interpolation method, in the form of an algorithm rather than a formula. Going on to later calendars, the author argues that Liu Zhuo’s method was used and improved upon in the calendars of the Tang dynasty (7th–10th centuries), but that no significant breakthrough occured until Guo Shoujing devised a third order interpolation method in the 13th century.
