Sci. 43, No. 2, 239-244 (2014). Summary: Yoshio Mikami is the first overseas scholar who researched Liu Hui’s commentary on the rule for the Yang-Ma pyramid. Based on an analysis of Mikami’s collation work, the diagrams and the mathematical interpretation he supplied, this paper points out that he is the earliest scholar who gave dissection graphics and jointed graphics of Yang-Ma and Bie-Nao, and he is also the earliest scholar who demonstrated the infinitesimal method contained in it. He played a leading role in the research on Chinese mathematics history and had an impact on Chinese scholars.
