On the problem of characterizing standard elements by the exclusion of sublattices. (English) Zbl 1232.06013

Summary: This paper gives a characterization of standard elements involving the exclusion of 19 types of sublattices containing such an element along with a property, called the lower separation property, of the element. In particular, a characterization of standard elements in M-symmetric lattices is obtained by the exclusion of 11 types of sublattices containing such an element is obtained.
