Diagrams in ancient Egyptian geometry. Survey and assessment. (English) Zbl 1184.01005

Aufgaben in ägyptischen mathematischen Texten sind häufig von entsprechenden Zeichnungen begleitet. Der Verf. stellt einen Katalog dieser Diagramme in den überlieferten Texten zusammen. Er diskutiert allgemeine Überlegungen über die Genauigkeit der Diagramme im Zusammenhang mit den Aufgabentexten und die Anordnung im Text sowie sonstige typische Eigenheiten. Zum Vergleich fügt er einen Anhang über Diagramme in Keilschrifttexten an.
