Signs of the leading coefficients of the resultant. (English) Zbl 1379.52012

In this paper the authors introduces a 2-mixed volume which is a \(\mathbb F_2\)-valued analogue of the mixed volume of lattice polytopes. They further prove the closed-form expression in terms of the 2-mixed volume for the sign computation of the leading coefficients of the resultant. Before such resultants were explicitly computed for some special cases only.
