# zbMATH — the first resource for mathematics

The Candelas-Weinberg model for spaces $$M^ 4\times S^{2N}$$. (English) Zbl 0601.53076
A method for calculating the one-loop effective potential for matter fields in Kaluza-Klein theories with the structure $$M^ 4\times S^ N$$ for both even and odd N is presented. The cases $$M^ 4\times S^ N$$ $$(N=1,2,3,4,5,6$$ and 8) have been examined. The method leads to finite results when N is odd and divergent results when N is even as expected.
