Summary: We formulate and solve analytically an initial-boundary value problem on the surface of a gravitational wave motion for a narrow canyon type reservoir. The surface waves appear when an avalanche flow reaches a filled reservoir. We obtain formulas and an algorithm for the numerical calculation of the amplitude of the surface waves.
