Issled. 77, 98-103 (1984). The authors have published results on the finiteness of the spectrum of perturbed self-adjoint operators [Mat. Issled. 47, 35-40 (1978; Zbl 0425.47008)]. Continuing those investigations a condition for the finiteness of the discrete spectrum of the characteristic equation of the radiation transfer theory depending on the modulus of continuity of the dispersion indicatrix is proved.
