Generalised Poiseuille flow between two parallel plates with temperature dependent viscosity. (English) Zbl 0643.76035

Generalised Poiseuille flow and heat transfer between two parallel plates is studied by considering the dependence of viscosity on temperature. An empirical relation between viscosity and temperature based on the experimental results of Prandtl and Nahme is used. The coupled differential equations of the velocity and temperature fields have been solved by series method for small values of N and integrated numerically for large values of N. The results are shown graphically and it is found that the velocity and temperature of the fluid increases with N.
