\(D\)-optimal designs for paired observations in quadratic regression with mixed effects. (English) Zbl 1347.62165

Summary: In mixed effect models the variability of the regression parameters has substantial influence on the choice of the optimal design. If fewer observations per individual are possible than parameters are to be estimated, the optimality results of single-group designs no longer hold. \(D\)-optimal population designs for small individual sampling schemes are considered in this article.
