From the text: V. S. Buslaev died on March 14, 2012, one month before his 75th anniversary. He was a brilliant scientist, one of the leaders of the modern St. Petersburg mathematical school, and he gained wordwide recognition. Buslaev was a mathematician of great capacity, and his field of interest was amazingly wide: he obtained principal results concerning quantum and classical trace formulas, diffraction and wave propagation, quantum scattering theory and integrable nonlinear equations, quasiclassical pseudodifferential operators with discontinuous symbols and difference equations with periodic coefficients, soliton stability for nonintegrable nonlinear equations and asymptotic quasiclassical and adiabatic methods. He published more than 150 papers and two books.
