With 1 CD-ROM (Windows, Macintosh and UNIX) The book describes applications of boundary element method (BEM) in solid mechanics, beginning with basic theory and then explaining the numerical implementation of BEM in three-dimensional nonlinear stress analysis. In addition, the authors develop a state-of-the-art BEM computer code, available for the first time on a CD-ROM attached to the book. The main topics covered in the book are: a) the derivation of partial differential equations that describe elasto-plasticity; b) the formulation of boundary integral equations for elasto-plasticity; c) the description of numerical algorithms for the implementation of boundary element method; d) the description of methods for evaluating singularities and solving nonlinear systems of equations; e) the description of computer code, and f) the presentation of benchmark problems and applications.par This book will be especially useful to stress analysts in industry, to research workers in computational plasticity, and to postgraduate students taking courses in engineering mechanics.
