Nature of problem: Simulation of high energy particle collisions, especially those in which a high momentum transfer gives rise to the emission of jets of hadrons. The theoretical basis is the resummation of the perturbative QCD expansion including all asymptotic and some important subasymptotic contributions. Solution method: Monte Carlo simulation of a variety of primary collision processes, followed by parton shower generation using a coherent branching algorithm and hadron formation using a cluster fragmentation model.
