Description: Evolutionary structural optimization: ESO Computer Program Evolve97. This book has so far given you an insight into the ESO method and on how it is applied to carry out optimization of various structural problems. A difficulty that can arise from a book such as this is that, although the reader can understand how the process works, it is very hard to apply it on demand. This comes about be.cause the reader needs to have access to various computer programs such as Finite Element Analysis software, optimization software, and a good programming background in order to implement what is explained. Fortunately this book includes with it two computer programs that will allow you to test and use the ESO method. The first is ESOFRAME as listed in the appendix of Chapter 7 and the second is Evolve97. Evolve97 is the first Evolutionary Structural Optimization program in the world which is developed in the environment of Windows 9S (Windows, Windows 9S and Windows NT are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation). Although relatively small in size (only 480kB), it will allow you to see how easy it is to use the ESO method to optimize structures.
