From the introduction: \textit{C. Farhat}, \textit{M. Lesoinne}, \textit{P. LeTallec}, \textit{K. Pierson} and \textit{D. Rixen} [Int. J. Numer. Methods Eng. 50, No. 7, 1523-1544 (2001; Zbl 1008.74076)] have recently introduced a dual primal finite element tearing and interconnecting (FETI-DP) algorithm suitable for second-order elliptic problems in the plane and for plate problems. Numerial experiments show a poor performance for this algorithm in three dimensions. We give a brief description of our own recent work [the authors and \textit{M. Dryja}, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 40, No. 1, 159-179 (2002; Zbl 1032.65031)].
We introduce the elliptic problems and the basic geometry of the decomposition. We present results on new dual-primal FETI methods for problems with discontinuous coefficient in three dimensions.
